The
capital of the Aragon region, Zaragoza is bathed by the Ebro river.
Zaragoza
is a lively city of some 600,000 inhabitants, and has a vast 17th-century basilica
with eleven domes and dedicated to Spain's patron saint, the Virgin of the Pillar.
It has
the fortress Aljafería some parts of which date back to the 9th century,
when it was an Moorish palace.
